It's gonna be a wonderful year

wow - we're bowled over with demand for the WeePOP-UP! compilation - we're down to the last 20 already, so if you'd like one and haven't yet picked it up, you should order soon.

No resting on the laurels for us though! Coming up on April 30th, we'll be releasing a lovely wee gem of an EP from New Yorks' "Wonder For All", six delicate delightful songs brimming with ukuleles, acoustic guitar and whispered vocals full of yearning and dreams, described by Wendy herself as "best listened to while taking bubble baths"!

In the coming months, we have new releases by "The Mexican Kids at Home", "Summercats" and "Lets Whisper".

You should also check out a few new releases by some of the artists we've worked with too.
Desmond Reed has a lovely side project to his solo material, a full band project called "The Mixed Creemees" who have just released an EP on the lovely new New Zealand based label, Eggnog Records. And the ever-lovely Motifs have an LP coming out on Knock yr socks off records in the next few weeks.

POP-UP!

Hmn, it's springtime! It's getting warmer, the days are getting longer, everybody just seem to be in better moods and we have a brand new release coming out in a few days.

It's quite a special one, we first had the idea for this little project months ago and we're super excited to see it coming to life. It's called " Spring forward - a weePOP-UP! compilation". The name says it all: it's a mini compilation in a very small cd, filled with lovely spring songs and it comes in a pop-up sleeve.

Featuring songs by The deirdres, Let's whisper,Zipper, Tafra, The toothaches, Little my and The hi-life companion, it's a limited run of 160 copies, and will be out on april 15th, but it's already available to pre-order on our release page now.

Fuzzy bears all around town

Things have been pretty awesome for us.

We are down to the last copies of the EPs by Bugs eat books, Desmond Reed and Tinyfolk. So if you'd like one, don't waste any time, they're not going to be available for too much longer.

One Happy Island's "pulaski park" has just sold out . That just only came out in January, and it's already gone. The ep is not going to be re-printed, but worry not, you're gonna be hearing from One Happy Island and weePOP! together again sooner than you expect. Also, the band has made the whole of "Pulaski Park" available for digital download, so if you didn't manage to get a copy, you can still get the songs on itunes, amazon mp3 store and some other digital distributors.

Because everything is selling out so quick, we're going to start doing slightly bigger runs - 160 copies - from now on, that's probably just as many as we can do and with all the handmadeness involved in each ep, but this way, a few more people will manage to get their hands on a copy. :)

Which brings us to our next release: POP!013 will be another cute little ep by Little My. We're super-happy to be working with them again and the new ep is ace. We'll be burning, stamping, cutting and sticking all weekend and will have a bunch of them ready by Wednesday. It's available to pre-order now.

A few wee cocktails!

We're very delighted to bring our second release of 2008! We've been fans of Jacob Borshard for a long time since first discovering his two albums (both available for free download at http://www.creebobby.com).

We got in contact with him last year to see if he would be interested in doing a weepop release, and to our squeals of happiness, he was into the idea. While recording his upcoming album at Sun Studios last year, a seed of an idea was planted in his head, which has now come to full fruition!

Jacob Borshard's Cocktail: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is a tribute to the seminal 80s movie starring the now king of Scientology! The first track 'Nine Cocktails (Before We Set Sail)' references every song on the movie's soundtrack and builds to a peak of excitement before effortlessly sliding into his cover of the Beach Boy's 'Kokomo' track.

The packaging is another new one for us - a heavy card stock professionally printed with a series of Jacob's amazing drawings, which unfolds out into a beautifully drawn secret map of the island of Kokomo! Each copy is hand signed by Jacob himself.

New music for the new year

We had a lovely little break up in Scotland and came back full of energy and some ace ideas and some very nice little projects in mind for the new year.

To start 2008 well, our first release of the year is Pulaski Park, by One Happy Island. With 4 songs that have been making me smile and dance whenever it comes on, this EP is a little piece of pure DIY pop goodness! It will be out on 15/01 and is availabe to pre order now.

Those of you lucky enough to be in Boston or New York in February have the chance of seeing them live and grabbing a copy of the ep in one of their release gigs. They'll be playing in Boston on 2/9 (with the Smittens and the 500's), and two dates in NYC, at Magnetic Field (with Lil Hospital and Spoilsport) on 2/1, and at the Cakeshop on 2/2.
