As some of you know, we’ve had a Just Joans album in the works for a little while, and we’re extremely excited to announce that it’s now finished, ready to go, aaaaand available to pre-order.

If you squint your eyes a little, this could be considered the Just Joans first full-length. The majority of the tracks here appeared in a different form on “Last Tango In Motherwell”, a CD album released back in 2005 when the band was simply David and Chris.

Now, completely reworked into a pop concept album set in late 90s Scotland, ‘Buckfast Bottles in the Rain’, is everything you’ve come to expect of the Just Joans, complete with gorgeous artwork by Katie Pope.

As usual, it’s a limited run of 500 copies, each hand assembled and numbered.
Oh, and did I mention it’s WeePOP!’s first 12″ record?

Pre-order it NOW!

The Just Joans are playing an album launch show in Glasgow on March 30th at Heavenly with support from The Power Cut Choir and The Hector Collectors; and hopefully a London show very soon as well.

**UPDATE: Due to Heavenly closing down, a last minute venue change was made. The album launch will now be Downstairs in The Admiral Bar on 72 Waterloo Street (near Central Station). Friday 30th, from 9-12pm**

One of the mail orders that stocks weePOP! has just sent us some old stock back, and amongst it, a couple of copies of releases that have been sold out in our own shop for a long time now: One Happy Island’s Secret Party 7″, Stars of Aviation’s By the Shore 3″ CD, Secret Charisma’s Original Cast Recording 3″ CD and Kuma’s Hello, My Name’s Kuma 3″ CD.

So they are back in our releases page, but we only have one or two copies of each, so if you missed it the first time round and want one, get it NOW.

While looking at our stock, we also realized we only have a handful of T-shirts left, which have now been reduced to £5 to clear!

Enjoy! x

**UPDATE: One Happy Island’s Secret Party and Star of Aviation’s By the Shore are now gone**

OUR FIRST RELEASE OF THE YEAR IS HERE, and as biased as I might sound, I can’t think of a better way to start the year than with a 7″ by one of best bands around at the moment: The Hairs.

They’ve only been making music for a short time now, but Kevin Alvir, the lead singer (and almost everything else) in the band was also behind one of my long-time favourites My Lil’ Hosptital, and then in more recent years, Knight School. Does that start explaining the reason of all my excitement?

Well, just go have a listen to the 7″ title track – I’ve been working out - and it will.

Pressed on bright red vinyl. Hand-packaged and numbered. Limited to 300 copies. Available to pre-order NOW.

We’ve had our Christmas elves putting orders together all afternoon, so if you have pre-ordered a copy of Little My’s fifth, expect something in your mailbox very, very soon.

While you wait, here’s a short interview with Harri Davidson, Little My‘s lead singer and songwriter:

When did Little My start?

I wrote my first song ‘Moths’ quite a while before I played it to anyone. But it was late on in 2005 when I played it to a couple of close friends who persuaded me to gradually start accruing people to play the songs live the with me. We played our first gig in March 2006 – it was ten minutes long – with about half of that taken up with swapping instruments between songs.

Had the plan always been to make 10 eps and then call it quits?

We wanted to create something that people could collect. A series of EP’s with an order and finite number that you could seek out and collect the set – like the sticker albums we had when we were little! Having each Little My song begin with a different letter fitted well, and when you get to Z that’s it! All neat and tidy. The cover versions and Christmas songs belong to new alphabet sets which will hopefully one day be released as albums too.

We stopped playing live in March 2010, 4 years to the day after our first ever gig when the Tenth and final EP was released.

So, where did Little My’s Fifth come from?

Little My’s Fifth is a present we have been saving, like when you find a tenner in and old winter coat pocket from the year before. It is a little reminder that the album (with all the songs A to Z) will be along eventually… and it proves that there is life after death!

Can you tell us some other fun or interesting facts about Little My?

The largest number of people playing in the band at a gig was 21 ( and it was broadcast live on radio on my birthday! ).
We played 55 gigs in total.
We had to buy a minibus (Serge) just to get to the practice room every week!

What are the Little Mys doing these days?

Me, Rich and Steph are still playing in The School – our new album comes out in March! Graf is still playing with Gindrinker and also Last Partisan and The Threatmantics. Amongst other things we have been finishing PhDs, Masters’ s and having babies!

Little My’s Fifth will be out tomorrow, and be ordered directly from our release page. Every order comes with a free mp3 download for a brand new Little My Christmas song. Woot!

Yikes! It’s been quite some time since our last update! But that does not mean nothing had been happening at the weePOP! HQ. We’ve been planning, pressing, cutting and stamping like crazy and have a load of exciting stuff lined up for the next few months.

The first of them, a brand new EP by Little My, is almost ready to go and has just been made available to pre-order.

You might be scratching your head and thinking ‘Hold on! Hadn’t Little My stopped making music sometime last year?’. Yes, they did stop. In March 2010, exactly four years after their first show, they released Little My’s Tenth and played their last ever gig. On their newsletter they explained that since the very early days, the plan had been to release 10 EPs and to write each song beginning with a different letter of the alphabet.

Now, particularly perceptive fans, might have noticed that something is missing there. They did release Little My’s Tenth on same night of their last show, but, somehow that wasn’t their tenth EP. Little My’s fifth had been missing all along. But not anymore.

Little My’s Fifth will be out on December 15th and is available to pre-order NOW.

Like most things weePOP!, it’s limited to 160 hand assembled and numbered copies. 40 of those are packaged in an elaborate, extra-special way, involving giant (really, really giant) buttons and ribbons. Those are going to the very first orders, so if you’d like one, make sure to order fast.

Aaaand, there’s even an extra bonus – A new Christmas song mp3 download to go with every order.

More from us very soon! xx

Double-exciting Let’s Whisper news!

Firstly, they have just finished a video for ‘All Happy Endings’. It’s their first official video to come out of The Shortest Days and what could possibly be a more perfect choice of a song than one that goes “let’s make a movie, you and I, take an adventure ‘cross the sky, all happy endings and a new beginning”?

In very subtle ways, it’s full of references to other songs in the album (like a girl playing with an etch-a sketch), and it also shows some clippings from the Record Release Party at an art gallery in Burlington last April, a nice little treat for those of us who couldn’t be there.

Which brings us to the next bit of news we’re so excited about:

Let’s Whisper are coming to the UK! Two weeks from now they’ll be packing their bags and getting ready to hop on a plane and come play us some songs.

Here are their Tour details:

Sep.28 – Chelmsford – With Standard Fare at Bassment Club. More info.

Sep.29 – York – With Standard Fare and Louche FC at City Screen Picturehouse.

Sep. 30 – Sheffield – Acoustic show with Standard Fare at the Rutland Arms.

Oct. 1 - Nottingham All-Dayer with Milky Wimpshake, Standard Fare, The Blanche Hudson Weekend, A Fine Day For Sailing, and lots more. The Chameleon. More info.

Oct. 2 - London – With Owl+Mouse and Standard Fare at Zigfrid von Underbelly. More info.

Oct. 3 - Cambridge – With Tender Trap at The Corner House. More info.

Oct. 4 – Glasgow – Living room show at a secret location! Email the band if you want to go – band@letswhisper.com.

The information above will keep being updated as support bands are confirmed, links added, etc, so keep an eye out for it.

Sadly, the Smittens are not coming over to tour the UK this summer, but they’ve leaving us something pretty awesome to make up for it: a lovely piece of vinyl and 3 brand new songs.

Entlitled ‘Typing, Texting‘, the single brings everything you’ve come to expect from the band; the infectious bubblegum pop, the harmonies, unique fun and instrumentation and the ability to make a cover song (in this case, Cars Can Be Blue’s ‘You’re so cute’) their own while still keeping everything that made the original so good.

It’s available to pre-order right now.

They are touring the West Coast at the moment, with a stop at the San Francisco Popfest this weekend and then shows in Portland, Seattle and Olympia. Check www.smittens.com for more info.

We have a new 7″ almost ready to go out into the world by the very awesome Tigercats!

I first saw Tigercats around this time last year, on their first ever show, supporting Hexicon in London. They were awesome! And they kept being so all year long. They have now played tons of shows, released two singles on Haircuts records and just added a new band member.

This record is one of those I’d describe as a triple A-Side, where I struggle to choose a favourite song and can’t stop listening to the whole thing on repeat. Aaaand, it’s a picture disc!

Pre-order it here.

Tigercats are playing a pre-release show this Thursday with Moustache of Insanity and Omi Palone, at The Besty Trotwood in London, and a Release Party at the Wilmington Arms on May 20th.
