Hot on the heels of 'Your pain is a joke next to mines', released last October, The Just Joans return with a shiny new Christmas EP. With songs named 'Teardrops neath mistletoe' and 'Card from a multipack', this is exactly what one would expect from a Just Joans record: lyrical ingenuity, beautiful song craft that touch of melancholy.
Tracklist
Your pain is a joke next to mines", sees the Just Joans reach new heights of wry knowing indie-pop, equal parts acerbic observation and beautiful songcraft, always staying on the right side of humour without ever becoming overly bitter. Their magic comes in combining classic influences from '60s girl groups with the heritage of Scottish pop genius, whilst staying rooted firmly in the here and now. The 7 songs making up this EP effortlessly straddling generations, with gems like 'Boyracer (Baby's a)' which sounds like Sandie Shaw dating a boy doon Strathclyde Park.

A couple of years after their debut release on weePOP!, Let's Whisper is back with new songs, a new sound, and some very exciting news. Very suitably titled, 'Keep a secret' not only shows the new direction the band's sound is going, but also revealed the plans of a full length album to be released in early 2011.

Stars of Aviation formed almost ten years ago and has gone a long way since, having evolved from the initial quartet to a nine piece, now featuring trumpets, accordions, keyboards and a bassoon. Following an appearance on weePOP!’s Starting Anew compilation last year, and a long hibernation period, they are now back in full style, with this amazing little EP, which comes ahead of their appearance at this year's Indietracks festival.
Tracklist
Following the debut “Our dreams”, released in April 2009, Jen Weidl and Danny Rowland return to WeePOP! for their second release, a beautifully condensed 10-track mini-album, perfectly pop-shaped and pocket-sized! Combining synthesizers, handclaps, percussion, strings and wonderfully wry lyrics, they create infectious uptempo indie-pop, poised somewhere between the synthy dreaminess of The Motifs and lo-fi reverb of the Vaselines.
Tracklist
Both such quintessentially WeePOP! bands, The just joans and The Smittens represent two different sides of the atlantic and two aspects of the indiepop sound: The Smittens with their more uptempo handclaps, jangles and percussion, and the Just Joans showcasing a more uniquely british anarok styling and lineage. Long time admirers of each others work, they finally got to meet and play together at last years Indietracks festival. Friendships were made, plans were hatched, and the result is a joined release with them covering each other's songs as well as a single of their own.
Tracklist

Two years after The Photo EP, Allo Darlin' returns to weePOP with this beautiful tripple A-side single. With song themes ranging from a punkrocker boyfriend that won't go out dancing to Physics and Stephen Hawking, "Henry Rollins don't dance" is trully a little pop gem!

The band started when Jen and Danny started playing around with a synthesizer, a guitar, and a drum machine a couple of years ago, and have since then evolved into a lovely mind-melting band. Every Little Thing Counts is Colin Clary's follow up to his 2 solo albums (Apocalypse Yow! and Sweater Weather or Not, These are the Songs I Got) for the now defunct Asaurus label. Picking up where those two left off, the new ep finds Colin feeling at turns thoughtful and whimsical in equal measure, delivering song after song packed with harmony and optimism in the gentle home-recorded style we’ve come to expect from the Charming Smittens when left to his own devices. These tracks are treats designed to lodge in listeners’ ears and provoke spontaneous hum-a-longs and fits of toe tappery during those long walks and short commutes on sunny afternoons, rainy days, and mellow evenings – basically any time one finds oneself caught between a pair of headphones!

Sing along to the lyrics.
For anyone familiar with weePOP!'s previous releases, The Just Joans need no introduction at all. On their third release on the label, an ode to the pangs of hearbreak, the band surpass their own excellence once again, with songs ranging from the anti Gloria Gaynor dancefloor hit 'I won't survive' to the fragile 'Overblown gestures'. Bonus points for the irony of the release date: February 14th.

The Just Joans formed in north lanarkshire in 1997, and released their debut album, "last tango in motherwell", in 2005 on ivan lendil records. They have described this mini album, "Virgin Lips", as a "shangri-las" esque tribute to small town teenage angst! Brimming with humor and hidden references, boy/girl coloquial scottish vocals, keyboards/pianos, banjos and acoustic guitar, this is a perfect slice of skewed pop music!
